Kindle is the best and there is more than one reason why. You will have to decide yourself. But Kindles future does look better. The 11 good points:

-Size: Nook is smaller than Kindle but not as compact. Still Kindle is thinner.

-Weight: Kindle is around 3oz lighter than the original Nook. 7oz lighter than Nook Color.

-Battery: Nook beats Kindle for battery life in some cases. Kindle will last 4 weeks as the old Nook lasts 2 weeks. Now Nook Touch will lasts 8 weeks.

-Screen: although the Kindle 3 has a better contrast it is equal to new Nook Touch of 2011. Glare does not exist on both readers, except on the Nook Color, which uses an LCD monitor like an ipad.

-Navigation:Useing real buttons and a toggle for navigation Kindle for me is not as good as the Nook which is touch screen. Yes Nook has touch screen in different sizes.

-Memory: Kindle rules. It is important to have enough memory so you can take your virtual library with you. Compared to the original Nook, and the Nook Touch, Kindles internal memory is twice larger. The positive side for Nook: memory is expandable.

-Free books: Both offer free books Kindle has more. Public library books the epub, is supported by Nook. But Kindle supports free .mobi books, and Kindle Books can be found at 11,000 public libraries.

-Yes! Kindle has 3G free real Internet! Awesome. WiFi is all that Nook Touch and Color come with.

-Rating: Kindle: 4.5,

-Price: Kindle is cheapest, there is more book selection, how can you beat Amazon, which has the biggest market share. And eBooks are cheaper on Amazon.

Then again if you get the new Kindle tablet Fire for a mere $199.00 that can do everything an ipad can do, personally there is no compression.

Nook is good, you make the choice. Kindle will be hard to beat. On the other hand I think the ibook browsers from Apple on the Ipad is actually better than Kindle.
